For teachers

This tool goes with Unit 2, Lessons 7 and 8 of the Year 4 Inspire Computing student book. Use it after Search Lab: that tool shows what each command does, and this one asks pupils to choose the right one for themselves.

  • Before the screen: put a sign for each command in a corner of the room. Read out a need, and pupils walk to the corner they choose.
  • The first round shows the cards in the same order on every device, so a class can vote before you tap a box. Later rounds are shuffled.
  • Exit question: which command would you use for your own research project, and why?
  • Nothing a pupil does here is saved or sent anywhere.

More to try

  • Write a new card for each box, and test a partner.
  • Write down the search terms for your research project. Which commands will they need?
